I wrote this poem after reading a poem by Mary Oliver called "Red Bird." I thought
the poem was beautifully written and was also about nature which I love to write
about. It is simple and elegant, done by an excellent poet. I just took parts of
her poem, which was so true for me at the time, as these things were occurring in my
front yard at the time I read the poem. It was like she was writing about my front
yard.
