Honestly, during the time that I wrote this poem, I was going through some tough economic times and often felt hungry, but I couldn't afford to always eat. This was also paired with notion that I feel our society has that it is more humble and therefore better to not live in excess, which I feel is false and hypocritical. We strive our whole lives to live better and have more than what we had as children. All of these feelings and opinions are wrapped up in this little poem.
My name is Kaitlyn Dahle, I am 21 years old and was born and raised in the small town of Harvard, Illinois. I am currently a junior attending East Tennessee State University on an honors scholarship and my major (of course) is English.
I have been writing these short poems since I was a senior in high school. They first started out as pieces to a song I attempted to write, but has now exploded into a collection of about several hundred short poems. I am very happy- for this will be my first publication of one of these poems and I hope that I can publish many more.
